Hello, I am Allie Hughes. I am from Grand Rapids, MI where I graduated from Kenowa Hills High School. I graduated from Michigan State University where I am obtaining my bachelors in English Education and TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages). I completed my year-long internship at CA Frost Middle/High School in Grand Rapids Public Schools district. I am the proud daughter of two wonderful parents, and my best friends, Michael and Nancy Hughes, and also the sister to the best little brother in the world, Michael Hughes. I have three "other" four-legged siblings, Macy, Izzo, and Summitt.
Currently, I am in my 2nd year of teaching at Kenowa Hills High School. I teach English 9, English 10, and English 12 - Career Prep. I am extremely fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity to teach in my former school. It is a "coming home" experience that I could only have hoped for in the past. The staff is wonderful and helpful with all of the "new teacher" questions I may have.
I love getting lost in a good book, being surrounded by my family and friends, watching sunsets, and coffee. Putting a smile on someone else's face makes for a successful day all around. There is never a day where I am not laughing. Celebrations of any kinds make my world go round. My friends and family are the cement that hold me together; I am thankful for them every single day.
When I'm not reading, I like to curl up on a rainy day and watch movies. Some of my favorite movies include, Remember the Titans, Shawshank Redemption, Dead Poets Society, The Notebook, and You've Got Mail. Also, the book is always better than the movie. (GO READ!)
