What Makes a Leader?I constructed this unit plan, rubric, and final assignment prompt in my senior teaching and English courses while in my final year of undergrad at Michigan State University. I envision this unit plan being employed in a 9th or 10th grade classroom at the end of the school semester. It would work well at the semester so students have many book characters, that they have already read about, to choose to write this final paper about. It teaches students the basic parts of making an argument while also making it interesting and individualized for each student. It brings together classroom activities to enable students to demonstrate both the declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge of writing and making basic claims. I am most proud of this unit plan because it also brings in outside sources for students to analyze and get ideas from in order to construct the best pitch for a book character of their choosing.
